Italy: 1975: 117 Mins: Drama / Gay / S&M
With: Paolo Bonacelli, Umberto Paolo, Giorgio Cataldi Quintavalle, and Cateerina Boratto:

This is Pasolini's last film (too bad it got made!) and is about a group of Fascists in World War II who were so powerful that they were able to use young people for horrible S/M sex games which sometime ended in murder. A horrible film to watch! but a friend of mine told me that I must tell you this is a very important picture none-the-less ! so see it and decide for yourselves....

This film is about a subject we all try not to think about being old and going to an old age home (if I end up in one I want 24 hours a day gay films shown and at least one radio station with Disco Hits !) OH sorry ! back to the film, it is about two older gay men who end up in an old age home: They become friends even though they really have nothing in common.

Director: Rahman Milani
Germany / Iran/ Norway 2007
With: Rahman Milani, Martin Niedermair:

Low budget, but heartfelt and touching little film about a gay couple with a small daughter, living in Berlin. The little girl feels left out, because she has two fathers and can’t take part in everything her friends do. Lacking female role models, she rebels against her fathers. The ending sends out a hope that the family may become united and happy after all!
Rahman Milani is a promising Norwegian/ Iranian director. He has been a very active member of “Skeive filmer”, an excellent gay film-festival in Oslo, for several years and is himself a great role model for gay Asian immigrants in my country.

This is a feel good movie about an 18 year old boy, Sebastian, coming out to his parents and friends. A very important issue, for sure, but this film just doesn't cut it as drama. The main reason: Sebastian is a very unbelievable character, looking like he's 15, behaving like he's 12, and talking like he's 21. Still, the lead, Hampus Björk, is tremendously cute, which must count for something? The director, Svend Wam, has made several interesting movies; almost all of them feature gay and bisexual characters.

Spain: 1999: 101 Mins Gay/ bisexual drama

Armando is married to Elena. Armandos secret lover is Diego. Neither of his sexual partners know about the other, but of course, it all comes out. What will Armando do? Will he divorce Elena or reject Diego? Or will they both dump him?
This starts off as a steamy love triangle with extremely good-looking leading actors. I mean it - they are just gorgeous. And they can act, Gil in particular is stunning. What an actress! It gets a bit mannered and soap-operatic towards the end, but we won't get into that. The sex and the faces are great, so if that's that you enjoy - get hold of this.

With: Mads Mikkelsen as Jacob, Troels Lyby as Jørgen, Charlotte Munck as Caroline, Jesper Lohmann as Tom, Oskar Walsøe as Oskar, Peter Frödin as Frederik, Nikolaj Steen as Mads, Ditte Gråbøl as Inge and others

A romantic comedy about Jacob and Caroline falling in love. A simple matter apart from the fact that Jacob has a relationship with Jorgen, and Caroline lives with Tom, a pilot who happens to be Jorgen's brother. Jorgen finds out about the affair and winds up in a car accident with severe consequences: he is blind in one eye. Jacob and Jorgen reconcile but when Caroline discovers that she's pregnant, Jacob leaves his boyfriend and moves in with her. Until he stops to reconsider and has to make a choice.

Alernative review:
Hum what to say about this film ? It has a different style as it is made in Denmark. It is the story of two gay lovers who at a birthday party decide to marry but then all of a sudden Jacob sees the woman who is with his brother in-law and feels something for her. (I must say at this point the two lovers Jacob and Jørgen have zero chemistery and one can not understand why they are together especially since the actor playing Jacob (even though his is nto bad to look at) plays the entire film as i he is bored and wants to get it over no matter if he is with a girl or guy..
The story is about boy has boy meets girl and has boy & girl and then boy lover finds out and it gets rough. Although end of the story made up for a lot. It is said to be a romantic comedy but I guess Denmark has a different type of humor than I am used to..
Although I find it hard to believe that a gay man who is in a relationship with another gay man can become totally crazy over a girl but I guess it happens. When you have an early night in and do not have to go out – have a peek!

Hum... this film is especially strange to people who are not into S/M. The camera work tries to take us through the lives of men who claim to be straight but need violence to have sex with other men. The film is violent and even though most of the men in it are quite attractive it is not a film I enjoyed. I watched it till the end but it is really not my thing. I must admit one thing I did not know what was going to happen throughout the entire film. So decide for yourself if this violent S/M film is for you ( i do not doubt that there are some of our readers who will enjoy this type of film)..

Shortbus

Director: John Cameron Mitchell
USA: 2006

Well, we heard about this project for years, but I’m happy to say I really liked Shortbus.
It’s more of a comedy than anything else, even if the sex (much of it gay) is hardcore and quite explicit. Mitchell has shaped a story of 5 New Yorkers tired of most things, trying to find meaning in various bizarre sex-acts.
James and Jamie is a gay couple going through a difficult period, mostly due to James feeling chronically depressed, even attempting suicide. Meanwhile, Sofia can’t achieve an orgasm, with or without her boyfriend Rob, and Severin the dominatrix is simply longing for a husband, a home and some kids. The 5 of them meet up at a private club called Shortbus, where underground celeb Justin Bond rules a mix of thrill-seekers, 60ies throwbacks, and sexual deviants.
Yes, it’s funny, and quite un-erotic, even if the guys are hot! The sex-scenes are shot in a documentary fashion, and the lighting is not very flattering for the actors. But don’t bring mother with you to the cinema! (she might like to watch it alone, though..) There is a marvellously animated set of New York intersecting the action, and the acting, mostly done by amateurs, is convincing and brave (some of the things they are asked to do is QUITE something...)

Shrek 2

Director: Andrew Adamson:
USA: 2004: Animated feature film

There’s a transvestite working as a barkeep in the pub where Shrek, Donkey and Puss go to sulk.
The script describes him as “the ugly stepsister”, but as he is voiced by a man, (in USA, Larry King) it’s easy to figure out it’s a cross dresser!
The barkeeper thinks Prince Charming has the face of an angel, which is also a hoot, since he is voiced (in the original) by the openly gay actor Rupert Everett.
What would Walt Disney have made of all this “perversity” in a family movie, eh!!

The protagonist is a writer who wants to “help rebuild Europe after the war”. He has no idea how to do it, though!
On the train are lots of different personalities: Doctors, nuns, refugees and – a dysfunctional gay couple played with comic timing and gusto by veteran actors Lars Amble and Gøsta Ekman.
I also enjoyed Robert Gustavssons optimistic but unlucky soldier, who seems to be getting the sticky end of the lollipop every time the writer feels the need to do some good”!
There are several deaths on the train, which lead the plot into Hitchcock territory and very enjoyable, too!
I love train movies, and this is a must see.

Skull & Bones

Director and writer: T. S. Slaughter
USA: 2007: 73 Mins. :
With: Derrick Wolf as Nathan, Michael Burke as Justin, Ryan G. Metzger as Chad Phelps-Davenport, James Stover as Travis Taft: Daniel Meredith as Zack Whitney and Eugene the Poogene as Rocco Kim:

Every once in awhile a film comes long that fits no other category so be prepared to enter an alternative world where nothing is as it is in real life... and once your are in this world you will view it with the eyes of T.S. Slaughter with his mind allowing things to happen and be seen that would not normally happen in our world. It is the world of fantasy, the world of revenge and where the straights „DO NOT“ have the upper hand. .
They are lovers who are going through a crisis in their sex lives and in order to fix it they decide to take home a straight guy and rape him. What happens next is not as they planned but it starts them off on an alternative road of life. . The road of Nathan and Justin, where the serial killers of the past are praised and studied.
The world of "what if" we take revenge on the straight guys who torment us (gay) "what if" we are the aggressive ones and they are the passive ones.
What happens next is a group of straight guys -- who are not only rich students from Yale University but the newest elected members of George W. Bush and John Kerry's elite secret society, Skull & Bones -- attack Nathan and Justin for being lower class and poor and attending the local state college.

Well in the world of Nathan and Justin they will not stand for this and they make a plan to capture and rape each of these guys but as the plan is put into effect things start to happen to them and the rapes get worse and worse leading up to horrible things happing to these young men. Things that most of us can not imagine even in our thoughts.
I can not tell you more without ruining the film and its ending so now it is up to you !!!
But I can say it is well produced, well written, well thought out and well directed and certainly not like any other film you have ever seen or will see. If you are willing to leave your morals behind you along with every day life for the length of the film then by all means watch it !

Oh by the way the tag lines for the film are:"A Tale of Homo-cidal Mania" /"Skull & Bones" is controversial, nasty, and extreme.
Movies TOO Gay will be waiting for the next film by T. S. Slaughter

Director: Frank Pierson / Screenwriter: Ron Nyswaner (who wrote Philadelphia)
USA: 2003: 112 Mins
With: Troy Garity, Lee Pace, Shawn Hatosy, Andre Braugher, Philip Eddolls

This film proves what we always knew the military is not yet a place for gays. It is the story of Barry Winchell who is a US soldier and falls in love with a transgender girl. They are very happy but the roommate of Barry is a homophobic person and can not stand the relationship so he kills Barry (who is played by the son of Jane Fonda). The film traces why it might have happen and shows us that there are still very homophobic people out there. The film is a must see and written by the writer of Philadelphia. OH the acting is very god also...

Now this film takes us back to those times showing clips (70 of them) and interviewing the ones who are alive and kicking. A must see film for lovers of these type films.

Director: Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil
Philippines: 2005: the languages used are: English / Filipino / Tagalog
With: With: Ricky Davao as Boyet, Irma Adlawan as Martha, Reggie Curley as Steve, Alcris Galura as Jojo, Lauren Novero as Dom, Justin De Leon as Justine de Leon, Manolet Garcia, Kokoy Palma, Ruby Ruiz, Carme Sanchez and Joven Velasco:

I must say I enjoy this film. It seems an odd film at first but it is simply there for having a fun time even though it is about bad relationships. The main characters Boyet, and Martha, are an unlikely pair of friends who really care for each other and enjoy their relationship even though she is straight and he is VERY gay. They use each other to get through their not so perfect relationships.

Boyet is a gay “mommy” and has a live in son (who he met when the boy tried to rob him) and a hunk for a lover who needs him to take care of him. ( as his sex partner and his mommy rolled into one).

Martha on the other hand is a very career orientated women who has a very good job, her own apartment but a very a terrible lover but al least good-looking.

The film traces their relationship together between these friends and the relationships with their lovers.

There is a lot to be sad about in this film but also a lot of fun so sit back and enjoy this Philippines comedy which will not change the world but take you into a different place than your normal life !

Summer Storm
(Original title: Sommersturm)
Director:Marco Kreuzpaintner
Germany - 2004 - 98 Mins
With: Robert Stadlober, Kostja Ullmann, Alicja Bachleda-Curus, Miriam Morgenstern

Tobi and Achim have been best friends for years. Together they have helped their rowing team win many championships, and now the great race along the coast approaches. As Achim’s relationship with his girlfriend gets more serious, Tobi realises that his feelings for his friend run deeper than he would like to admit. Feeling confused and insecure, Tobi becomes more and more cut off from the group. Then they discover that a women’s team from Berlin has unexpectedly been substituted by a team of young, gay athletes. This brings Tobi, with his prejudices, and Achim, with his secret desires, into direct conflict. A very nice movie about the gay conflict in the youth and the problems to get out of the closet, very funny, sweet and with a good happy end.

Song of the loon

Director: Andrew Herbert
USA: 1970:
With: John Iverson:

If you can find this, you're lucky! It's an early soft-core gay movie based on a bestseller paperback by Richard Amory about a drifter having sexual encounters with Indians and other men of the west. He learns a lot about himself and finds his true love at the end.
("A shocking and enchanting underground bestseller" read the book cover.)

You can read the entire novel on http://www.gay.ru/mittas/library/loon.htm.
You can also see a short movie-clip in Quicktime at the Planet Out news site.
It's a very erotic, pastoral book but a rather amateurish movie. Lots of nudity though and great
looking guys, even if white men stand in for American Indians! A very interesting example of queer
film from way back when. (it was released on VHS by Something Weird video, but has gone out of stock.)

Sordid lives

Directed by Del Shores
USA: 2000:
With: Olivia Newton John, Beau Bridges, Bonnie Bedelia:

It's all about a redneck Texan family gathering for a funeral, the kind of family where everyone is a character and the women with names like Bitsy Mae and Sissy wear high hair, smoke like chimneys and eat everything deep-fried and smothered in chocolate. There are two gay brothers who are in deep denial, one of them confined to an asylum, while the other goes in therapy in LA.
The youngest tries to "come out" of the closet but it's not easy with these relatives. A "black comedy about white trash" read the blurbs. If you laugh about people behaving like hicks, you'll be in stitches over this movie. Could have been made by John Waters, but its not Some of you will find this tasteless and tacky, but I laughed real hard. The ending is rather moving, by the way.

Spartacus

Director: Stanley Kubrick
USA: 1960 (restored version 1991): 161 Mins = 1960 / 198 Mins = restored 1991: bisexual main character
With: Kirk Douglas as Spartacus, Tony Curtis as Antoninus, Laurence Olivier as Marcus Licinius Crassus plus Anthony Hopkins (voice) Marcus Licinius Crassus (voice rerecording in the 1991 restoration) and Charles Laughton as Sempronius Gracchus:

There is the 1960 version which was heavenly cut by the censors and then in 1991 there is a restored version with the originally censored scene in which the bisexual emperor Crasius (Laurence Olivier) tries to seduce his slave (Tony Curtis). This is a big epic film and the thing that makes it so interesting is the 1991 restoration with some of the dialog needing rerecorded to restore the cut scenes.
Note: See it if only for the bath seduction scene.

Johnny and Eric become friends, roommates but their relationship becomes complicated when Eric falls in love with Johnny. Eventually drugs, violence and their dangerous way of life-on-the-edge threaten their innocent dreams and loves. Daryl Hannah is Veronica, an older cocktail waitress and a very close Thomas´friend. Starsky & Hutch

Directed by Todd s
USA: 2004
With: Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Snoop Dogg

Respectable movie-version of a hit TV-series from the 1970s. S & H are two San Francisco cops who're so cool ice cubes wouldn't melt in their mouths. Wilson and Stiller strike up a great partnership as the cops in the title, and has a little pseudo gay moment when they meet weird ass convict Big Earl (Will Ferrell) in jail. They want some information from him; Earl wants to see some skin! The partnership itself is definitely homo erotic, they are even kissing and hugging at one point..Great looking guys in this flick. I've always been a Fred Williamson fan after seeing him wearing that leather in Black Caesar way back when. Fred's in this one and he's still great looking!

Stepford wives, The (re-make)

Directed: Frank Oz
USA: 2004:
With: Nicole Kidman, Matthew Broderick, Bette Midler

Re-make or rather a re-thinking of the Ira Levin movie-classic from 1975. Back then it was a paranoid feminist satire about men exchanging their wives with robots who did their every wish. The new storyline is almost the same, but this time it's a comedy about consumer society and the way you have to fit in to be successful. There's even a gay couple in this! One of the gays is a "manly, responsible" specimen while the other is an "effeminate" type. With Bette Midler in the cast and Paul Rudnick (In & out) writing the script, you are guaranteed your share of campy, Technicolor moments. Very well made, if a bit obvious. Nicole looks gorgeous, by the way.

He is a sissy but knows what he wants and he uses all his tricks to get David home with him but he soon discovers that David has negative feelings about gay people as he is a Cuban revolutionary and totally for the Cuban government and it's ways. Normally he should report that he has met someone gay but he does not. What develops is not a sexual friendship but a platonic one. David even starts to like Diego but the friendship ends as Diego prepares to leave Cuba and start a new free life. This film's story line is excellent and I think the performances are simple the best ! A must see film which shows you how lucky we are to live in freedom.

Director: Dean Murphy
Australia: 2004: 100 Mins
With: Michael Caton as Ralph Williams, Paul Hogan as Vince Hopgood, Ashley Evans as Porn Site Boy

Another comedy where straight men try to pass as gay. The story line is about two older men in in a small town in Australia. One has tax problems and in order to get tax breaks and fix his problems he decides to take advantage of new tax laws in which gay couples can take advantage (only fictional laws). He convinces his long time friend to pretend they are a gay couple in order to use the new laws. Contains a few really good scenes such as their trip to Sydney to check out what gay life is like there. The film is supposed to be a comedy so if you like this film or not it depends on what you consider funny.

Don´t blame me that this film is about a couple who go back in time but at least there are two gays in it: Regan Kennedy as the Gay Caveman and Dick Warren as the other Gay Caveman (there always needs to be two or else they can’t be gay together :-)

This is a classic film about a young girl who is used by a gay man to attract men for him to sleep with. She is played by Elizabeth Tayor and after the gay is killed by a group of angry young men in Greece she ends up in an mental asylum. She is places there by Katherarine Hepburn´s character as she does not want the truth to come out that her son liked men.
Note: This was written by Tennessee Williams and Gore Vidal. OH by the way the gay´s face is never seen on screen (but was originally planned to have him on screen)

A strange must see film about a blond boy who has a great body: He ends up (due to thinking he has murdered a woman - he slept with for money) living with a rich man in a wheel chair. The man pays for the boy to have sex (to keep him there) and in one scene the boy thinks he will be getting S/M sex from a woman but when he is tied up (great ass shots) it turn out to be a leather man who is going to give it to him... No matter how hard he tries to get untied he can't.

Summer Vacation 1999
[1999 NO NATSU YASUMI]

Director: Shusuke Kaneko
Japan: 1988: 90 Mins: Drama / Gay:

Hum - this is a strange film and all the male parts are placed by females. It is the story of a school in Hokkaido. Three of the students must stay at school during the summer vacation and we slowly discover that the year before three boys also stayed and one of them died. One of the boys was in love with him and much to their surprises a boy shows up who looks exactly like the boy who died. This, in turn, causes the film to become really interesting.

Sum of Us, The

Directors: Geoff Burton and Kevin Dowling
Australia: 1994: 105 Mins: Gay Comedy / Drama
With: Russell Crowe, Jack Thompson, John Polson, Deborah Kennedy, Joss Moroney and Mitch Mathews:

It is the story of a gay son and his father who is a widower. The father and son life together and have a very solid relationship with the father accepting the son's gayness without any problems. The only problems they have is that they are looking for mates and the ones that they find have trouble accepting this very stable relationship that the father and son have. This film appears to be filmed in a new style and the father talks right to the audience about the situations happening in the film.. There is a great scene where the son brings home a potential lover and the father try to be his open self with the guy even offering him porno to look at. This is a must - see it you will really like it and be very very please you did.

With: Peter Finch (as Dr. Daniel Hirsh), Glenda Jackson (as Alex), Murray Head (as Bob), Peggy Ashcroft, Tony Britton, Maurice Denham, Richard Loncraine.

This film was really good in it's time (the beginning of the 1970´s). It is about a gay older man and a woman who love the same bisexual gay. The bisexual has separate love affairs with the both of them. But when he decides to leave for another city the film becomes really good. This one of the first real hot kisses between the two men (who are in bed) on the screen - some people got shocked but I keep my eyes open through the whole film ;-).

With: Keanu Reeves (Nelson Moss), Charlize Theron (Sara Deever), Jason Isaacs (Chad), Michael Rosenbaum (Brandon) Greg Germann (Vince Holland), Liam Aiken (Abner) and Lauren Graham (Angelica).

She does not want to have one steady lover but tries to have a difference lover each month - but only for that one month. Then come along Mr November who is Nelson played by Keanu Reeves and then her life suddenly changes in many ways. Her best friends are a gay transvestite pair who share her life’s ups and downs. A good film and a little sad so see it and see what you think. Worth a look for the gay transvestite pair and of course for the hunky Keanu Reeves.
