- Director
/
Writer: Fabio Carpi
- Italy: 1982: Made

about an older gay
- With:
Michel Vitold as Guglielmo and Pierre Malet as Eduardo:
-
- This
is the
story of a Quartet and what happens when one of the members dies and is
replaced by a young guy called Eduardo. His youth and sex appeal causes
Guglielmo (who is an much older closet gay) to fall all over the
younger guy
and finally get to kiss him but no luck as Eduardo rejects him. So he
gets a
hustler to have S/M sex with him but this is too much for the older guy
and he
ends up crazy (hum - sounds like a plot from the much earlier gay
films) but
worth a see !

- Queen, The
-
- Director:
Frank Simon
- USA: 1868: 80 Mins:
-
- This
is a
very early film about a drag contest and who will be "The Queen" of
the - All American Beauty Pageant for 1967. It shows the goings on in
the late
60´s (before Stonewall) and the culture of drag. I have seen
the film and these Queens are mean and
tough and rough.
- Note:
See
it and take a glance back in time and enjoy it but do not forget to
move away
from the screen when the "queen" is picked as the are nasty sparks
flying from the "losers" - I have never hear such nasty remarks in my
life ;-)

- Queens
- (Original
Title: Reinas)
-
- Director
Manuel Gómez Pereira
- Spain - 2005 - 107
Mins:
- With:
Marisa Paredes, Carmen Maura, Mercedes Sampietro and
Verónica Forqué
-
- One
of the
best gay movies that I’ve ever seen, it’s a very
big production from Warner
Bros. España, "Reinas" is a delightful comedy about three
different
gay couples and their relations with their overprotective mothers.
-
- The
very
first gay wedding is about to take place in Spain. This would
already cause enough
scandal if it were a single ceremony; however that is not the case.
Three
couples in all will formalise their union in a collective ceremony. The
mothers
of the grooms, of course, cannot contain themselves. On the weekend
running up
to the party, there is euphoria, anxiety, shame and other feelings
mixed up in
the heads of these women, as well as in those of everyone else involved
in the
wedding. The result of this mixture could change the course of the
event
itself.

- Querelle
- [Aka
Title:
Querelle - Ein Pakt mit dem Teufel]
- [Aka
Title:
Querelle de Brest]
-
- Director:
Rainer Werner Fassbinder
- Germany (West) /
France: 1982 : 103 - 108
Mins.: Gay Characters
- With:
Brad
Davis as Querelle, Franco Nero as Lieutenant Seblon, Jeanne Moreau as
Lysiane,
Laurent Malet as Roger Bataille, Hanno Poeschl as Robert/Gil, Guenther
Kaufmann
as Nono, Burkhard Driest as Mario, Roger Fritz as Marcellin,
-
- This
is the
story (based on the Jean Genet book) of Querelle who a very handsome
sailor
(played by the late Brad Davis who also stared in Midnight Express )
and is
adored by his Lieutenant Seblon but he is also a cold unloving killer!
Querelle´s brother Robert is a frequent visitor to a strange
whorehouse/ bar
and there he is lovers with the owner’s wife Lysiane. If you
are (lucky?) you
get to play dice with Nono (the owner) and if you win you get to sleep
with
Lysiane but if you lose (as Querelle did) you get to have Nono give it
to you
hot and heavy, which happens and includes the actual sex scene, this
caused
many straights to walk out when I saw it at the movies but as you can
imagine
the gays STAYED! It also has song the Fassbinder song - You always hurt
the one
you love. This is a hot film and Fassbinder out did himself in this
strange but
easy on the eyes film.
