This is the story of a Quartet and what happens when one of the members dies and is replaced by a young guy called Eduardo. His youth and sex appeal causes Guglielmo (who is an much older closet gay) to fall all over the younger guy and finally get to kiss him but no luck as Eduardo rejects him. So he gets a hustler to have S/M sex with him but this is too much for the older guy and he ends up crazy (hum - sounds like a plot from the much earlier gay films) but worth a see ! Phillip

Queen, The USA: 1868: 80 Minutes: Director: Frank Simon This is a very early film about a drag contest and who will be "The Queen" of the - All American Beauty Pageant for 1967. It shows the goings on in the late 60´s (before Stonewall) and the culture of drag. I have seen the film and these Queens are mean and tough and rough. Phillip Note: See it and take a glance back in time and enjoy it but do not forget to move away from the screen when the "queen" is picked as the are nasty sparks flying from the "losers" - I have never hear such nasty remarks in my life ;-) __________________________________________________________________________________________

_________________________________________________________________________________________ Queens (Original Title: Reinas)  Director Manuel Gómez Pereira Spain - 2005 - 107 Minutes: With: Marisa Paredes, Carmen Maura, Mercedes Sampietro and Verónica Forqué One of the best gay movies that I´ve ever seen, it´s a very big production from Warner Bros. España, "Reinas" is a delightful comedy about three different gay couples and their relations with their overprotective mothers. The very first gay wedding is about to take place in Spain. This would already cause enough scandal if it were a single ceremony, however that is not the case. Three couples in all will formalise their union in a collective ceremony. The mothers of the grooms, of course, cannot contain themselves. On the weekend running up to the party, there is euphoria, anxiety, shame and other feelings mixed up in the heads of these women, as well as in those of everyone else involved in the wedding. You will be exposed to their views on a lot of subjects including AIDS and being politically active. Queer as Folk UK: 1999: mini-series With: Craig Kelly, Aidan Gillen, Charlie Hunnam and others: Who else but the English could have made this series ? It is the story of Vince and Stuart, who are two gay best friends. It shows gay life as it really is now. It includes the young boy who is just having his coming -out and meets up with Vince and Stuart. There are sex scenes with the young boy, drugs and other things which shocked the straight viewers (but the gays loved it). This is a must see ! Note: ugh !!!! the Americans are now doing a remake and I can not conceive that they could do anything better than the UK one, but you can be sure I will watch the American one and let you know what it is like ! Phillip __________________________________________________________________________________________

Queer As Folk 2 Director: Menhaj Huda UK: 124 Minutes: With: Craig Kelly, Aidan Gillen, Charlie Hunnam and others: They back !!!!! and the story continues and was I happy for that. Will Vince and Stuart finally become lovers ? They stay overnight in a hotel with that intention but do they.....? Stuart gets blackmailed by a little boy in his family - what does he does about it ...? Everyone want Vince and Stuart to become a pair ... do they .....? What happens to the young boy from the first film .... ? all these question and MORE will be answered when you see Queer As Folk 2 plus more you never thought of ;-) Great enterainment.... This is a very topical story about young gays in prejudiced small towns. Most of these kids escape to the big city where they can be themselves. The director also told me he was worried about the refusal of Asian immigrant families to accept their homosexual children. Yvngar
