Magnolia
USA: 2000: 188 mins:
Director: Paul Thomas Anderson
With: Tom Cruise, Julianne Moore, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy

The first great drama-compendium of the new century; a breathtakingly directed slice-of-life from the San Fernando valley in California where the lives of nine people intersect during a few short hours. All of them have one thing in common, but we don’t know what it is until some time has passed. One of the nine people is Donnie Smith, an aging gay man (Macy) who was a great success as a 9 year old prodigy in a quiz-show on TV. Sadly, Donnie’s  life is now close to ruin. He’s got a big crush on a handsome young guy down at the local pub. Without youth or good looks, however, there is no chance Donnie will ever win him over...unless...

One of several great stories in this very moving film. Like a brilliant novel you just can’t put down! William H Macy does very well by his part and makes you feel the pain inside him. The tragicomic and bizarre finale of the movie is also something to see! Yngvar

The first info I received on this film were two tag lines ”The first gay male film from India!” and “A not so straight movie” - so of course i was very interested to seeing this film. I have just finished watching it. The film maker must have seen “Boys In The Band” and decided to make an Indian version. Many of the characters from that film are brought back to life but in this film. There are one liners and even the big queen Emery but with another name. Just when I thought that it would just be a remake of the “Boys In The Band” and that was that – the story line take a little turn and becomes a story of boy meets boy – boys love each other – one boy can not accept the gay life – so boy goes with boys sister - as an alternative.

A well done film which starts off as a remake and ends up a very interesting film especially if you like to find out about other cultures – see this film !

Mannen som elsket Yngve

(trans: the Man who loved Yngve) Norway 2008 Director: Stian Kristiansen
This is one of the big success stories of 2008 in Norwegian film. Originally a bestselling bookabout a homosexual crush in the life of 17 year old Jarle, it plays very well on film too.
Jarle, who defines himself as very much hetero, plays guitar in a local punk band, is a red blooded anarchist, and hangs out with his girlfriend during the weekends. He lives with his single mum and secretly hates his dad, who is bullish and alcoholic.
Then Jarle meets the new guy in school, the angelic looking Yngve, and his life is turned around. The question here is: Can you accept a young boy having a homosexual love affair, and still not define himself as gay? The author of the book, Tore Renberg, is pretty vague on the issue of Jarle, and insists the story is about romantic obsession, not homosexuality. You should have a look and decide for yourself. I personally loved it - it's fresh, funny, youthful and full of insight. Yngvar

Männer wie wir
Director: Sherry Horman
Germany: 2004: 106 minutes:

With: Maximilian Brückner as Ecki, Lisa Potthoff as Susanne, Dietmar Bär as Eckis Vater, Saskia Vester as Eckis Mutter, Rolf Zacher as Karl, Mariele Millowitsch as Elke. David Rott as Sven, Christian Berkel as Rudolf, Charly, Hübner as Horst, Markus John as Tom, Andreas Schmidt as Jürgen, Hans Löw as Klaus, Billey. Demirtas as Ercin. Edesson Batista De Jesus as Ronaldo.

Well what to say about this film which I have just watched ! It is a German comedy and seems a bit out of dated. It is about a guy who plays soccer on a Straight team but as is thrown off it as they discover that he is gay. He in turn is upset- makes a deal to form a team to play a game opposite the Straights. So he leaves for the big city to find men who are gay and soccer players. He starts a team with the gays and of course has trouble getting the gays to play the games correctly (hum gays can not play as well as straights ?). What happens seems to be a laugh comedy for straight people, oh well see it yourself and decide... Phillip

Italian Mambo
Canada: 2003: 89 mins:
Director: Steve Galluccio Emile Gaudreault

With: Luke Kirby, Peter Miller, Paul Sorvino and Ginette Reno:

Based on a theater play called Italian Mambo the movie seems like as the  "Greek wedding" with a Italian family and a gay son.

Angelo (Kirby) moves from his parents home to the his lover´s home, Nino (Miller) who is a cop and a childhood friend. When Angelo decides to get out of the closet, Nino dumps him and starts to date a girl because Nino wants to keep in the closet. Claudio

Alternative review

I like this films a lot and enjoyed every minute of it.

It is the story of Angelo who has a secret lover called Nino and is a cop.
Coming out in this type of conservative family is probably very hard to do, so when Angelo tells his parents he is gay, they take it badly, as one could probably have thought. This is not a dysfunctional home, in the traditional sense, but like most families facing this situation, they can't believe they have produced a son that is "homosexual".

This light comedy is a funny approach to what happens when the unexpected occurs. The interplay between the two different cultures in the Italian-Canadian community setting could not be more true about the movie tries to deal with. The most important point the film makes is that Angelo, by coming out, is a much better person than Nino, who will probably go through life living a double life and being miserable in both worlds.

This comedy is good for care free laughs. Director Emile Gaudreault keeps things moving quickly. The cast is very good.  Phillip

M. Butterfly
Director: David Cronenberg
USA: 1993: 101 minutes: Transvestite / Love story
With: Jeremy Irons as Rene Gallimard and John Lone as Song Liling:

This film is the true story of a French diplomat (played by sexy Jeremy Irons). He is on assignment at the embassy in China and meet a Chinese opera star called Song Liling. They start a relationship and if you can believe that the diplomat over the years has never seen the opera star naked then you can also believe that he never knew the girl was a boy ! (played by John Lone) The affair is discovered by the authorities and although the diplomat tries to say he never knew the she was a he no one believes him and he goes to prison - where he also hears and performs drag opera - if it looks like a gay - acts like a gay it probably is a gay. All kidding aside this is a beautiful film based on a Broadway play. Phillip

Note: there last dialog together where both are dressed as men goes like this:

Song Liling: Under the robes, beneath everything, it was always me. Tell me you adore me.
Rene Gallimard: How could you, who understood me so well, make such a  mistake? You've shown me your true self, and what I love was the lie, perfect lie, that's been destroyed.
Song Liling: You never really loved me.
Rene Gallimard: I'm a man who loved a woman created by a man. Anything else simply falls short.

Madame Satã
Director:  Karïm Aïnouz
Brazil: 2001: 105 minutes:
With: Lázaro Ramos, Marcélia Cartaxo, Flávio Bauraqui:

Film inspired by the life of João Francisco dos Santos (1900-1976). A sometime rogue, artist, transvestite,   player, chef, convict, adopted father, he spent most of his life in the streets of bohemian Rio de Janeiro. The story takes place in the Lapa neighborhood, in 1932, when João Francisco’s dream – to be a stage star – becomes a reality. The film portrays his daily life, and that of his circle of friends, focusing on a crucial moment in his trajectory; the moment that precedes the creation of the myth of Madame Satã, a name taken from a Cecil B. De Mille 1930 movie, with which João has fallen in love. This film was selected for the UN CERTAIN REGARD program at the Cannes Festival in 2002.

Madame Sousatzka
USA: 1988: Gay Character
With: Shirley MacLaine and Lee Monaque:

This film is listed for two reasons, the first is that there is a very well written secondary character in this film. It is a very short role about an older man who turns to Mme Sousatzka for help after he is gay bashed and she helps him. The second reason is that Shirley MacLaine is very good in this film as Mme Sousatzka who is a piano teacher. So see the film for both of these reasons.  Phillip

Madagascar Skin
Director: Christpher Newby
UK: 1994: 93 minutes: Gay
With: Bernard Hill as the older man and John Hannah as Harry:

The film centers on a man called Harry and opens up with him at a gay bar filled with handsome men. There is only one problem he has a large facial birthmark which is in the form of a map of Madagascar (hum... you have to have been good at school to know that ) anyway he is rejected by everyone and even tried to Dark room (which appears to have too much light ) and he get rejected there, in a hot scene but as the song goes "Love will always find you - no matter where you hide" well one day he is at the beach and saves an older man from drowning. This man has tattoos so he doesn't seem to mind the birth mark. What develops between the two seems to be real love, even thought the older man has a few quirks ! This is a must see film !  Phillip

Bart tries to keep cool, aloof and tries to stay out of love as he has done most of his life. The wife finds out about the relationship and to see how this triangle comes out and if there is a Hollywood "happy end" you will have to first see this film. Note: This subject was very bold when it came out but now seems to have lost it's boldness but the story is still a very beautiful filmed love story and is certainly one of the films which set the foundation for toady's better films and when I re-watched this film I now know why my mother told me to get a Doctor for a lover ;-) he is soooo cute !!  Man I love, the

France: 1997
Director: Stephane Giusti
With: Jean-Michel Portal and Marcial Di Fonzo Bo

I love the French! This made-for-TV movie is such a charmer. Lucas and Martin are janitors at the local Aqua-world and boy are they in love!? Yes, they are. Sadly, Martin is saddled with a girlfriend and has a lot of explaining to do. Lucas, meanwhile, has a secret – a very big one.
If you don’t enjoy this love story, you probably hate movies in general. The balance between comedy and pathos is just right. Wait till you see Lucas’mother. Isn’t she just gorgeous? I gave this my vote in the “Audience choice” ballot at the Oslo g/l-film festival 2003. I said it – now go see it!

Man is a woman

France: 1998
Director: Jean-Jacques Zilbermann
With: Antoine de Caunes and Elsa Zylberstein

Simon is a gay, Jewish musician who can’t get a boyfriend. His mother urges him to find a girl and his homophobic uncle promises him a legacy of 10 million francs if he marries and has children. Simon has a crush on his straight cousin as well.So what’s a man to do? Well – not what Simon is doing, I hope. Simon (played by cutie de Caunes from Eurotrash) makes all the wrong choices and I got well and truly pissed at him during the course of this movie. I dare you to like this guy. Gay audiences will probably be turned off by the Jewish storyline and vice-versa. The movie is very well directed and beautifully acted, but the story sucks big time. I felt insulted as a gay man. Re-run the Wedding banquet or la Cage aux Follies 2 and forget this one.

He first appears to have a crush on a young man called Bobby (he calls him Bosey - which was Oscar Wilde´s lovers name) but later in the movie he is after an older woman called Adele, so I guess that makes him either a bisexual or a person who can't decide what he wants. With: Michael Sarrazin, Romy Haag, Jappe Claes, Harry Cleven, Derek De Lint, Herbert Flack, Charlotte Rampling, Eva Robins and Serge-Henri Valcke:

What to say about this film - It is a Belgium production and contains something for everyone. It is a thriller with S/M, Transvestites, Transsexuals, Brother and Sister lust and most of that takes place in the club "Mister Butterfly" which is a quite wild gay club. It is really too hard to try and tell you all but this film is definitely worth a look ! Good performances and there is even a surpass á la The Crying Game ! Phillip

M*A*S*H
Director: Robert Altman
USA: 1970: 116 minutes: Heterosexual film with gay references
With: Donald Sutherland, Elliott Gould and Sally Kellerman:

Hum this is basically a straight military film about the Korean War and a medical unit. It contains many nasty gay jokes but the reason I have mentioned it is that there is a scene where a Dentist thinks that he is becoming a "fairy" (nasty word for a gay) so the soldiers arrange a Straight night for him and low and behold He is cured the next morning (who ever heard of such a stupid thing ?) See the film if you a watcher of all gay or gay content movies otherwise get a newer really gay film - you'll enjoy it better. Phillip

MERRY CHRISTMAS MR. LAWRENCE
Director: Nagisa Oshima
UK / Japan: 1983: 122 mins:
With: Tom Conti, David Bowie, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Takeshi, Jack Thompson

I normally do not watch films about war but I had to watch this film as there is a homosexual relationship between the Japanese soldier  and his English captive (played by David Bowie). The two seem to have a very strange relationship and the Japanese soldier is more than taken by Bowie´s character. There are many hints at these feeling but the big scene comes when Bowie´s character stops the leader from killing an English soldier by hugging and kissing him in front of all his soldiers exposing the feelings he feels. You really should see the film as it is more about feelings than about sex or sexuality. Bowie is very good and the rest of the cast too ! Phillip

When I heard the Brad Pitt was in a film which featured a gay character I was hoping it was him, but of course it was not ! This is a high action film about gangs and a special collectors gun. Oh the open gay character is played by James Gandolfini. He gets to tell Julia Roberts all about being gay and looking for a man and even gets a man who goes to Las Vegas with them. I like the gay story line a lot but if Brad had said f*ck one more time in the film I would have screamed ! Phillip

Director: Carl Theodor Dreyer
Germany: 1924: 74 minutes Silent film : Gay : Drama
With: Benjamin Christensen as Zoret, Walter Slezak as Mikael, Nora Gregor as Princess Zamikoff, Robert Garrison and Grete Mosheim:

This is simply a very good film! Yes it is from 1924 and yes it is silent but I had the change to see it at a film museum with a pianist playing the music ! Wow ! It is the story of Zoret who is an aging artist, and loves young male model Mikael more than a son. He loses Mikael to Princess Zamikoff which breaks his heart and causes him to grief. On his deathbed he tells Mikael that he loves him and now can die in peace since he has know a great love - sniff sniff - get out the tissues ! Oh -I almost forgot that the servant loves the master and tells in also in this film. Very Very advanced for 1924 and a joy that this film was found again and is being shown to the public again. I think the Television showing also has the sound track added to the film. The music makes quite a difference to seeing this film. Phillip

He gets hooked up with a slimy guy called Ratso Rizzo who knows the streets of New York City. He gets Joe to start hustling men and as their money runs low Joe ends up going to a movie theater and letting a young man suck him off for money (this was a shocking scene for 1969). Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
With Kevin Spacey as Jim Williams, Jude Law as Billy Hanson, John Cusack as John Kelso and of course Lady Chablis as him/herself.:

This film takes place in Savannah, Georgia and is a real look into the life style of the old south. It is based on the true story of the murder of Billy Hanson by his rich older lover Jim Williams. One night Jim shot and killed Billy after a fight and this is the filming of one of the trials (there were 3 of them - I think) Anyway Jim is rich and well accepted by the well to do in Savannah so when he claimed that it was self protection and a lot of people believed him. It is very well filmed and a good thriller. There is a super performance by Lady Chablis - well know local transvestite who is now in the spot light due to this movie and even has His/Here home page in the Internet. We will never really know what happened that night but this film will at least open our eyes !!...Oh I almost forgot to tell you this is based on the book by John Berendt.  Phillip

If you want to watch this film make sure you get the video full - length copy !

Miracle
Norway 2006
Director: Thomas Kaiser
With: Christian Skolmen, Eva Röse, Stig Henrik Hoff:

Romantic comedy about a 30’ish man who lost his wife in an accident, and feels very lonely. Then he meets a beautiful swedish lady (Röse), and falls in love. But the path to true love is strewn with thorns etc..etc...

Nothing really new about “Miracle”, but we rarely make these kinds of movies in Norway, and this one is rather good. There is a gay friend, Stig Henrik Hoff, playing the kind of friendly helping hand that you find in rom-coms all over the world.

Still, he isn’t portrayed as asexual, but seems to be a happy, well adjusted homosexual.

Christian Skolmen, the lead, is a gorgeously handsome man. He is even better looking in
real life...

Mirror, mirror

(original title: Lille spejl )

Denmark: 1978
Director: Edward Fleming
With: Fritz Helmuth and Bodil Kjer

Well, Fassbinder had a lot of transvestites in his movies, but this is something else altogether. Lille spejl is a warm and touching insight into the social lives of men dressing as women, both gay and straight. The main
character is Bent (that’s a boy’s name in Denmark, people!) who leads a double life as a factory worker and a cross-dresser. Bent seems to be a victim of circumstance, as his cabaret-act mother wanted a baby girl and got him
instead. A lot of smiling through tears and brave faces in this movie. Not as depressing as Fassbinder, though.

This is a film about the life of the gay writer Yukio Mishima. It is based on his life which was a short one as he killed himself at the age of 45. It is beautifully filmed but somehow the mention of homosexuality is not there. Worth a look only to see what IS mentioned. This could have been a great film if they had used the fact that he was a Homosexual. The film is in 4 parts - 3 of which are base on his books: A fictionalized account in four segments of the life of The Temple of the Golden Pavilion, Kyoko's House, Runaway Horses), and the forth is, "The Last Day" - when he took his own life. Oh by the way I fell asleep during part of the film but I am sure a good gay scene in the film would have woke me up! :-)   Phillip

Mr Leather
Director: Jason Garrett
USA: 2005: 70 mins: Documentary, Gay/Leather Interest:

Mr Leather follows nine contestants who are all competing for the title of Mr Los Angeles Leather 2003. The film gives us a glimpse into these leathermen’s homes, relationships, bars and fetish gear shops as they prepare for the upcoming competition.

As a documentary, the film is fun and sexy, the mood alternating between the taboo allure of leathersex and the seriousness of social equality for all homosexuals, kinky or not.

For those who don’t engage in BDSM or worship leather to the point of fetish, the film is a rare eye-opener to the subculture, providing insight beyond the dangerously sexy leatherbar scenes of William Friedkin’s perennially provocative “Cruising”. Recommended viewing for those who like their men buff and harnessed! Kimmy

Mrs. Henderson Presents
Director. Stephen Frears
UK : 2005 103 minutes:
With:Will Young as Bertie (his first film), Judi Dench as Laura Henderson, Bob Hoskins as Vivian Van Damm and many others:

I just finished watching this film and must say I really enjoyed it.It is beautifully filmed and a wonderful story line about a English London theater which opens and in order to survive they come up with an idea to allow nude girls on stage. The reason i am listing it here is one of the main characters is Bertie played by Will Young. He lets you know early on that he is not interested in girls. His singing is great - the character is gay but has no male friends and there is a wonderful shot of him nude with a very sexy behind and a hint of the frontal.. There are other singing boys in the theater and all look gay to me but there is nothing said about them in the film,  so have a peek and enjoy this film - oh by the way it is based on a true story of an older rich woman who makes it her life work to start and keep this theater going and she finds a great impresario to help her do so. it has great performances, is nominated for many awards and is of course a Stephen Frears film which he directed.  Phillip

P.S. Mr. Smith Gets A Hustler
Director: Ian McCrudden
With Alex Feldman, J.D. Williams, Benjamin Hendrickson and Larry Pine:

This film has a great title... and immediately draws your attention to it. so now on to the story line: it is a film about male hustlers in New York City who work for a very strange Mr. Lapp.and brings no fun into their lives to counter act it there is Mr Smith who like to talk to them rather than have sex with them.Good story line and a very interesting one  Phillip

Mrs. Doubtfire
Director: Chris Columbus
USA: 1993: 120 - 125 minutes: transvestite - gay characters
With: Robin William as Daniel Hillard /Mrs. Doubtfire, Harvey Fierstein as Frank, Scott Capurro as Jack,Sally Field as Miranda Hillard and Pierce Brosnan as Stuart Dunmeyer:

This film would normally be just a good for a laugh and just a straight transvestite movie if it weren't for a few things. First there is the performance by Robin Willams which is just super. Then there is the performance by Harvey Fierstein as Frank the gay brother who is a movie make-up artist along with his lover Jack who helps turn Robin into Mrs Doubtfire. A good just for fun movie.   Phillip

Is the Disney musical about a young girl who has to dress as a boy in order to be a soldier and save the world. Mulholland drive

Directed by David Lynch

USA/ France: 2001

With: Laura Harring (Rita/Camilla), Ann Miller (Coco Lenoix), Justin Theroux (Adam Kesher), Dan Hedaya (Vincenzo Castigliane), Naomi Watts (Betty/Diane), Mark Pellegrino (Joe ) and Robert Forster (Detective McKnight) :

Super-sensual, slinky thriller/ mystery from the man who brought you "Twin peaks". The lesbian sex-scenes, with the two leading ladies making out, are so hot it's unbelievable!! Everyone should enjoy it for those scenes. The plot is very confusing, but try not to care and gawk at the gorgeously handsome men and women instead. This should look sensational on DVD. Billy Ray Cyrus, of all people, pops up in a cameo as a bed-hopping pool cleaning guy. Ann Miller, the old dancing babe at MGM, is also in there somewhere. Recommended late-night movie for hip people.

I always have to think a lot about films from Asia. They seem to have a different pace then what I am used to but underneath they are often VERY romantic and great to watch. Murmur of Youth is one of these films. It is the story of two girls from very different social class who meet and work together. This job brings the two girls very close to each other and suddenly they realize that their closeness is not just being friends. Can two girls from such different lifestyles find real love ? Phillip

Japan: 1993: 60 minutes: Drama / Gay / S&M:

Set in Tokyo - this is the story of a journalist who works for a physique magazine. Along the way he falls into a S/M relationship with a nasty but charming bodybuilder. There is the most terrible scene when they are having sex and the journalist cuts off the mans arm UGH ! I was shocked, anyway he goes to jail and when he gets out he starts his search for his one armed man. There are hot sex scenes and some S/M you might get shocked at. So it is up to you if you want to see this film or not. Phillip

This is filmed in the usual strange but very watchable style of Ken Russel and is the story of Tchaikovsky's life, music and loves. It basically shows Tchaikovsky as a in the closet gay who hides his true feeling and marries to live a "normal" life but in the end his wife goes crazy and his life is wasted living a lie - although he wrote beautiful music despite all these problems (or maybe because of them?) Phillip

My Beautiful Laundrette
Director: Stephen Frears
UK: 1986: 94 minutes: Inter-racial gay love
With: Daniel Day-Lewis as Johnny and Gordon Warnecke as Omar:

This is the story of Omar who is an English born Pakistani.
His world is full of rich people and he also wants success and wealth. He gets his Uncle to give him the control of a run down laundrette. He meets the a Punk called Johnny (Daniel Day Lewis at his sexiest) and the sparks fly between them. This is one of the new gay films where the two young lovers just love each other (both physically and mentally) and that is that ! It is a charming love story between the two who take the laundrette and turn it into a big success. In the background there is all types of racism shown. It's message (if any) is to let people be and live together without racism. A charming love story which took me into a world I never knew existed and that is the world of the foreign community in London. It opened my eyes to a lot of their values and their lifestyles. This is a good gay love story so see it. Phillip

With: Paul America as Blond hustler, Joseph Campbell as Older hustler, Genevieve Charbon, Ed Hood,  Ed McDermott,  Jeanne Vieve as Beach girl and  Ed Wiener as Bald man

This early Warhol film (filmed on Fire Island with Paul Morrissey making his debut working with Warhol)  is the story of Hood who is an older aging gay. He is looking for a younger man via a dial up service. He gets the guy called Paul America who is quite the hunk and Hood and his friends all want to get the guy into bed so they bet on who will get him first. The photography is typical Warhol and the dialog seems to be made up as it goes along but I enjoyed this film despite it´s Warhol tricks.  Phillip

My Own Country
Directed by Mira Nair
USA: 1998: Made for TV Aids drama:

Unusual film by a female Indian director working in USA. It's based on a true story about an Indian medic working in Tennessee during the 1980s. He tries to help the locals, both gay and straight, coming to terms with AIDS.
This is worth watching if it shows up on your TV. Interesting story, good
direction. Try comparing this to "It's in the water", another film about "the
old south" dealing with the AIDS-epidemic.

My Own Private Idaho
Director / Writer: Gus Van Sant Jr
USA: 1991: 102 minutes: gay prostitution - road movie
With: River Phoenix as Mike Waters, Keanu Reeves as Scott Favor, James Russo as Richard Waters and William Richert as Bob Pigeon Rodney with a brief appearance by Udo Kier as Hans:

This film has really only one real reason to see it and that is that River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves are in it ! River plays male prostitute called Mike and who has a sickness called "narcoleptic" (he often falls asleep and is not able to control this condition). Keanu plays the son of the Mayor of Portland called Scott who seems to be bisexual and certainly has feelings for Mike. They decide to leave the city to find Mike's mother and have "boring" adventures together. There are a few sex scene but one needs a slow speed video to make out what is happening (and even then only thick glasses might help). The only interesting part of the movie is when both Mike and Scott are both attracted to Bob. The rest of the film shows far too many boring shots of houses - roads - and sky shots and not enough of Rivers and Keanu. Then there is the fact that this film is based loosely on William Shakespeare play Henry IV (or so they say) and all of a sudden the actors start talking free verse. I do not understand this film at all but you make your own judgment. Anyway River Phonix and Keanu Reeves are at least sexy to watch - when they are on the screen ! Phillip

My Summer of Love
Director Pawel Pawlikowski
UK: 2004: 83 minutes
With: Nathalie Press, Emily Blunt, Paddy Considine, Dean Andrews, Michelle Byrne, Paul Antony-Barber, Lynette Edwards, Kathryn Sumner

I really enjoyed this movie but found it frustrating at the same time, you'll know why if you watch it! The story revolves around two teenage girls from very different walks of life and their 'Summer of Love'.
Local misfit Mona (Natalie Press) is searching for more than what her small town can offer and is yearning for the relationship she feels she has lost with her brother who has become a Christian. By chance she
meets Tamsin (Emily Blunt) who is wealthy, bored and an imaginative storyteller. The two girls' friendship quickly turns to first love and we follow their journey of exploration. I found the characters, particularly Mona to be very quirky with an off beat humor. Knowing that the leads were both in their debut roles, I thought they did a wonderful job and gave excellent performances.
