This movie is based on the cult Broadway musical of the 1960´s and tells the story of Claude who is a young man from Oklahoma who is move the country type than a type to be in the city but he visits New York City, where he meets and becomes friends with a group of hippies. The leader is Berger and during their wanderings he meets and falls in love with Shelia, who comes from a very rich family. He only has this short time to be with her as he is being shipped off to the Vietnam war. Now for the gay content (besides looking at Claude and wanting him to climb into your bed or thinking that Treat Williams might be a treat for the night) you will hear Woof say that he is not gay but wouldn't kick Mick Jagger out of his bed !

This is the story of fat over thin and is about a fat girl who doesn't let her weight stop her from dancing her way to a local TV dance show. She finds fame and a good-looking boy at the same time. It is Baltimore and it is the 1950´s with both real dance numbers and newly created ones to fit in the film. It is a John Waters film and of course, stars Divine as both a mom and a cameo role as a man (yes he/she was one). It is fun to watch and cast is excellent. Oh by the way your not supposed to know that Divine is a drag queen and he/she does such a good job that I have straight friends who thought it was just a big big woman !
Note: Ricki Lake went on to be in a few other films but is now known for her daily talk show She has lost tons of weight and is quite slim now, so no more John Waters films for her.

Note: there is a new Hairspray out with John travolta playing the character Divine played.. a so so film (although John is surprising good - see the original its more fun !

Is a film I saw at a gay film festival and I liked it very much. It is the story of a married young man called Francesco who lives in Italy and one day he is told he has inherited a Turkish Bath in Turkey from his long lost Aunt. He goes to Istanbul to sell it but discovers he has feelings for a young man there and so he decides to spend time there to re-build up the Turkish bath which is one of the last traditional baths which is still in existence but also he wants to see if this gay relationship is for him. His spending time in the Turkish culture and family seems to draw him to stay.
Note: Beautifully filmed and with beautiful men and most of all a GREAT story - see it !!!!!

This is the story of a man called William who is an attractive and reasonably happy gay man. After being away from his parent home for ten years he goes back for a visit and relives memories of his unhappy obese childhood and the love of a youth he had when he was young. All these memories start to flash back at him and if he had stayed any longer I think he would have regained his weight !The reliving of his the past is a sad thing to watch but none the less a very very well produced film with good acting and most of all a good story line ! A must see...

The subject matter of this film we have seen before but since it is made in Slovakia it has a new style to it. Martin is 18 and knows what he is looking for. He wants someone in his life to share the different feelings he has. He has a neighbor called Theodora who helps him do a personal ad and then goes over the responses with him. The one that stands out is Hannah who is a man at a cabaret called Hannah and Her Brothers. Hannah seems to be the same as Martin – could he be the person Martin is looking for ? See the film to find out !!!
Note: the story line is very interesting and handled very well and to top that has fun musical numbers.

It is the story of Francis who lives in the Italian area of Philadelphia. He is in a sexual identity crisis and although he never mentions the GAY word, you know what his problem is. He gets a visit from two college female friends - Judith is an ex-girlfriend, who wants to resume the affair but in reality he wants her blond brother Randy (makes you want to dye your hair blond and take the next jet to Philadelphia and try your luck with the ITALIAN MEN). As the picture moves along Francis starts to realize and accept the fact that he is homosexual ! Rita Moreno (From The Ritz) and Madeline Kahn are also in this movie and scream and yell through most of it. See the film !

Note: This film is from the Director of Outrageous and Too Outrageous but don't expect the open gay type of film with this one.

Since they are con men they act the part and pretend to be the real gay couple but they encounter problems since they are heterosexual and around pretty women. The typical comedy with the typical mix-ups when heterosexuals characters play gay characters.

I found the film very interesting as I love films which tell the story of gay people from other cultures !

Oh my this is a serial murder drama. It is a low budget film but comes off as if it was to be made in this style. Put in a closet cop who cruses men in the evening and then add a serial killer who likes to murder hustlers and gay teens and you will have a real thriller which contains sex and violence but most of all a great story line which can hold up to large budget films ! See it and judge for yourself.

This is a made for Australian TV film and is about a working class family in Sydney. It is the 1940´s and they are having rough times. Besides try to keep the family surviving the story is about a 16 year old trying to fact the facts that he is falling in love with a male friend. It is a rather depressing film but interesting to watch.

Hard Pill

I remember a USA Made For TV film where quite a long time ago where a family has to decide to use a new test to see if their unborn baby will turn out gay. The brother / brother in-law of the family was gay. It all revolved around should you abort the child if it is gay and of course this caauses a lot of family discussions and a lot of soul searching.

Now years later comes Hard Pill and the gay or straight discussion takes a new turn this time it is not about a unborn baby but a gay man called Tim who has little luck in the gay scene with an occasional blow job on a best straight friend. He is a very unhappy person.

.He hears about a new pill that can turn you straight and decides to be a test person with the pill. In order to turn straight he has to give up all his friends (straight or gay) and change his entire life. He must also change his work as he is known as a gay man there plus the film shows you how his friends are effect by this change which makes you think about your real friends.

At this point I felt the movie played into the hands of the people who believe that being gay is a choice rather than an inborn status. Thus a pill change change your mind and body and you become a heterosexual.

For Tim it means adjusting to being straight, finding a girlfriend and ignoring all hi previous life. This was a very scary part of the film and I am glad there is no such pill or treatment (no matter what we are told).

The ending of the film is very satisfying and realistic so at the end of the film you will have a lot to think about and discuss with people you know.

Oh almost forgot the film is shot at points as a documentary which brings the clinic parts of the film to look like reality.

The writer and director John Baumgartner has done a wonderful job to make us mad and then to make us think... a must see film!

He tries to get Sally Todd to use her influence to get him a job, not realizing that she is even less known in the acting game as he is. She does try to help him get back into acting. His affair with her become even more complicated as Jessica, her "Might be Lesbian - Might not be Lesbian" daughter, tries to seduce Joey and take him away from her mother. She is a slightly mad which also doesn't help him either.

Note: All the locations in the film are filmed at the actual spots where the story took place. The tea shop which was the also the real location was filmed and then knocked down after the film was finished.

Note: Only for hard core gay film watchers like myself. I will sit through any film which had even one mention of a gay character.

Well, lets try and explain this film. Simon is a handsome and sexy guy who has just lost his drag queen lover to AIDS and get the courage to start his life again which includes one night stands, discos etc. His plan is in trouble as his lover Mark is not about to go so easily and decides to come back to the apartment as a ghost. The bitching and haunting are fun to watch and it is said that this film was UK´s first mainstream gay film. Fun to watch and Mark is funny as the typical drag queen type.

"Head On" is a strong film which tells us about Ari´s life.
Ari is a handsome Greek Australian youth who finds himself in a conflict, he wants to come out the closet, but due to his closed community with rigid values he wants that he finds a job and gets a wife.
He does n´t have "balls" to face his reality, so he would rather spend his days having casual sex then fighting with his suburban family. Alex Dimitriades (Ari) is really cute and hot, and he shows all his talent in this film! - OH there is a frontal male nudity scene!

The "American Dream" becomes a hell, there, in trailer park hell, Hedwig is abandoned with little more than memories and the remnant of that sex change: an angry inch.Working as a babysitter Hansel meets a 17-year-old sexually alluring Christian rocker, Tommy Michael Pitt. They fall in love and Hedwig transforms the boy into a glam pop icon Tommy Gnosis, but the boy filches her songs and act and becomes a huge star. This film is based on the Off-Broadway musical - It´s like a wild "Velvet Goldmine".

Picture two men, one who lives in East Germany and the other in West Germany. It is 1977 and the Berlin wall separate the two men but in spite of it and all the hardships which separate them they fall in love. Their relationship is watched closely by the East German secret police but in spite of that they know they are made for each other and from the minute they meet they consider themselves married. The east German writes to all the officials that he wants to join his "man" in the west and continues until he finally get permission to go to his man in the West.
Kurt and Wilfried set up household in a small German town and proceed to collect records which becomes a big part of their lives. They can play each record and recall their memories together as well as clothes, photos and other items which they collected over the years.
At first they seem a stink normal couple but as you peel off the layers of their relationship your start to realize what a great love they found and how much they were suited for each other.
They are boring – they are fun to watch – they are set in their way but most of all they had real love ! I liked this story a lot..

Note: David Hallyday is the son of two famous French singing parents (his mom is Sylvia Vartin and his father is Johnny Hallyday) but he was raised in the USA so there is no sexy French accent but we can forgive that as he is quite the little blond hunk who one would like to see MORE of.

Well this one is difficult to review and tell about. It is the story of students at the Columbus University. The Lesbian story is as follows : Kristen (who is pretty and blond) is raped on a date in a self-help group she meets Tayn, who is a also good - looking. They start to get close and Tayn wants to wait with the relationship as she wants Kristen to be sure of what she wants. Kristen's friends think that Tayn is strange but anyway they finally go to bed in a very romantic scene and start a relationship which is interrupted by Kristen meeting the man of her dreams and leaving Tayn. It is made clear that Kristen's friends are happy the lesbian relationship is over. Now for the gay male story. A skinhead is doing recruiting and a gay misunderstands what he wants and thinks that this is a come on for going to sex. When the skinhead realizes what is happening he states "I ain´t no fagot". There is also a horrible gay bashing of two male gay students by the skinheads. If you are going to see this film be warned it is not a gay film and the story line is certainly not one that will make us happy !

He does two numbers one as the mother - femme Lethal and the other is a musical number about Lesbians in prison.

Strangely, the "victims" are all cute young guys, who act very gay even before they watch the video! The so-called "news-reporter" looks like he's right out of high-school..

Made by the same director who did "The Fluffer", it's a mildly funny softcore sex-comedy with about 15 minutes of plot and lots and lots of tanned gym-bodies in between. Some nice jokes here and there. You're not supposed to take "the Hole" seriously, of course, but I think the concept behind the film is much better than the actual movie.

Due to the mishandling story line this film is a very complicated story but the gay relationship is a very interesting one.

If you hate "screaming queens" this movie will get in your face! It's almost like a queer pantomime production of "the Wizard of Oz" in fancy dress. Often funny, but very, very odd.

Every once in awhile comes a film project made from the heart and real love. This is one of those films.

I had seen "Paris Is Burning" and the "Vogue video from Madonna" but it was more like a show to me.

Now comes along this film which was made by Director Wolfgang Busch. It took 10 years of his life to make it and the research and incite into the subject is immediately felt.

It traces voguing to the beginning (30 year history all the way back to Harlem) and then tells us the history up to now.It captures the fast pace in the filming of these talented guy and girls but it is so well done that you can follow the entire fast paced story

I do not know how Wolfgang Busch was able to get all these people on film or how he was able to trace the entire history of them but he did it and now has in the end the complete history of it on film!

I can honestly now understand what these talented & good looking people are about and what they have been trying to show us on the runway.

The guys and girls´s stories fly out to you from the film and you understand what they have tried all their lives to say to us and the outside world.

I love Documentaries but this one is excellent and a must see..

I watched every minute of it absorbing the performances and the history of the people who do it... and i can highly recommend this film.

So sit down and enjoy this film as i did...and if you are organizing a film festival by all means get this film for it – I am sure it will be a highlight.

I hope we do not have to wait 10 years to get to see the next Film of Wolfgang Busch.
