As you might have guess I love Gay movies and so when there is a new film or book about them I have to see them or have them.

My all time favorite is The Celluloid Closet which was excellent. This new film takes a different path from The Celluloid Closet as it focus mainly on Lesbian / Transgender and Independent film rather than male gay films. In life there is a place for everything and even though I felt a little left out I like the film. It traces a lot of gay/lesbian /transgender history along side of the movie reviews. One nice angle of the film is that the interview a lot of directors (many gay) on how the film came about and was made. This will go down in history as a sort of Part 2 of Gay / Lesbian / transgender film history.

This story is from the gay writer Kevin Williamson and is about aliens which are trying to take over a school. A group of the teenagers band together and try to get the Aliens out of their school. This film is mentioned not because of it´s great plot or filming but because one of the teenagers is a Lesbian !

This is the story of two men who in the USA in the 1950´s. It is not openly gay film but anyway it is gay with Leon and Florence as lovers . Leon is often looking lovingly into Florence (what a name !!) eyes with longing. There are more than a few times when Florence wants to get his friend to do what he wants by saying:

"You know I Love You. !" to Leon. They decide to rob a bank and involve 3 teenagers and then the film turns to S&M when they hold the boys hostage. Leon is driven crazy when he thinks Florence is double crossing him. If will like this film if you are used to see films about gay made without really really showing it. Use your imagination and it is there. Maybe in years to come it will be remade as a truly gay story !

This movie is about students who are at the New York City High School for the Performing Arts. It follows the students from the first audition to get into the school until they graduate. Basically it is the story of four friends. Coco who is a very out going person, Doris who is basically shy, Raul who is very pushy and sure of himself and Montgomery who is sensitive and gay (who isn't). If you want to find out more about their friendship see the movie., students

Note: Montgomery says lines like: Never being happy isn't the same as being unhappy. Is it?

Oh by the way there is a new remake of this film coming out in 2010 and it will be reviewed here.

I have watched this made for TV about an actress who meets and fall in love with the man of her dreams. They marry and start a family which produces two girls and two boys - so far so good but one of the boys turns out gay. The mother accepts this but the father just can not. The son becomes an outcast in his own family. This in turn casues major problems to the family and you will jut have to see this to find out what is the outcome and effect on them all. Very intresting filming which is well worth a look especailly for straigths who have a gay in the family.

UGH just when the sex scene was getting good ! anyway the film is a good thriller - even if the gay dies.

I just finished watching this film. I had no idea what to expect as the description of the film said gay action film with a large black transvestite called Destiny - well what I saw was a really good gay action film with a very unusual story line but very worth seeing. Destiny is a gun packing transvestite and is willing to use it when straights attack gays. She has a young lesbian and a young gay guy who are homeless living with her and a lover who is a cop. The film shows young people trying to find love and even a pair of gay haters who turn out to be gay themselves. A must see film for it´s contents and story line!

This film was filmed in Mandarin and is the story of Douzi and Shitou who at a very early age are trained to become performers at the Peking Opera,. One is trained to play the female role and the other is trained to play the male roles in the opera. The boys grown up together and seem to play the same parts in real life as in the opera. All goes well until a woman enters into their lives and they break-up over her. After the split the cultural revolution in China takes it toll on all three of them. The film is wonderful to watch and the story line is very interesting and work a look....

Konstantin Dalmatov (Sergei Tsiss) has returned to Moscow after a long journey in Hollywood with his lover, the famous director Alexander Mansourov (Boris Nevzorov).Konstantin wants to film grand musicals in his mother land - Set in Stalinist Russia - he needs to sign a paper declaring that he will reveal any information asked to be allowed to work or don’t sign and forever end the possibility of making movies, at the first moment he decides not to do it, but he the terror and pression is bigger than his thoughts and he decides to sing the paper that opens the successes door, to hide his homosexuality he marries his leading actress, Lidia Poliakova (Julia Svejakova) and become their life into a big farce. The movies do a parallel between the Salin Rules and the Hollywood Rules over the actors sexuality.

This movie will take you back to the times when if was illegal to be homosexual and the thought of coming out was far into the future, although the husband in this film files for divorce and moves in with the boy he fall in love with. A journey back into the bad years for homosexuals but i did enjoy the film and you should see it too to see what these years were like.

Fellini´s Satyricon

It is the first century of Rome and two friends, Encolpio and Ascilto, get into an argument about who owns the boy Gitone. They split their belongings and break up. Gitone is told to choose between the two and he chooses who Ascilto. Encolpio decides to commit suicide - as he is left alone without either of his lovers.. He takes off only to have many adventures. Later on he is reunited with Ascilto. Together they help a man kidnap a hermaphrodite demi-god from a temple. The hermaphrodite demi-god dies and as mortals are punished when this happens Encolpio becomes impotent. The rest of the film we see him trying to find a cure.

Note: The film is loosely based on the "Satyricon" by Gaius Petronius Arbiter, who was in the court of Nero. Only pieces of the book survived and Fellini shows this by stopping sentences at the place where the words are missing form the original. The film is wonderful to see and one can only wish that Fellini had made more gay films rather than the other of his films where there are gay characters.

This filming of Fifth of July is the story of Ken Talley (remember John Boy ? - well here he is grown up and in a gay role - just as you always wanted him to be) who is 32, good-looking and a Vietnam vet who had both legs shot off seven years ago. He has a lover called Jed who is a strong type and takes good care of Ken, he also loves to do gardening for their house. Most of this story takes place on the 4th of July (the American Independence day) weekend in 1977. It is a very moving look at past and presents relationships which have been effect by Ken and his injury, plus it is a weekend that will effect all their futures. The film is sometime bitchy, sometimes sad but there is a love there (under all the hurt and bitchiness) between all the family. There is also John who Ken loved as youth. Very moving and well done. Richard Thomas is very good in it.

This film kept my attention from the beginning to the end (maybe because the young boxer was sooooo cute and great to look at. But now on to the story line:

An older boxing trainer (who is overweight and in the closet) has anyway a reputation of being homosexual. A young really good looking boxer comes to his attention and he decides to train him to become a star boxer but he has to suppress his homosexual feelings towards the young man (who is straight). Then one day during a massage it becomes clear to the young boxer what the older trainer is and what he wants. What happens next to the two you have to see the film.

It´s Friday evening and we are taken to the Brooklyn bridge where a naked man (Travis) is getting ready to commit suicide. Along comes Rhoda who is in a car with friends and suddenly sees Travis. She tries to rush out to help him but her friends stop her and tell her to mind her own business. She looks again and it looks as if Travis has leaped into the water. The onlz thing left of him is a shoe.

But the film takes a turn when Travis is not dead and shows up at Rhonda´s work causing a things to get out of control on what is her 30th birthday. She is then fired as before she lived a quiet normal life and now with this stranger entering into her life she is suddenly losing control. Anyway not wanting to go home and tell her parents about being fired she goes to a diner with the rest of her birthday cake.

She is somehow drawn to Travis and there are tapes made by his love who died of Aids and what she hjears leads her to a town in Texas. Does Travis want her help and what is the taped message all about. You will just have to see for yourselves this rather complicated films but keeps you watching till the end !

Note: Fire Island is an island in the Atlantic Ocean and is 32 miles long. It has very expensive homes and since it is only 90 minutes traveling from New York City it is a long time gay resort.

A 19 year old student of English literature in Hong Kong falls for his teacher, a middle-aged professor and playwright. Will this love affair stand a chance? This film pushes my buttons. I can really relate to this story! The actors do well with their parts, and helps you to see what different backgrounds these two guys come from. It's no masterpiece, and very low budget, but I really like the characters. I understood the problems these guys had to face, and so the film worked for me.

Compare this act with the one Cline gave us in IN AND OUT, and you're witnessing a very talented actor who can do a swishy turn better than Liberace himself. Even Palin looks very impressed!

For the sense of smell, Robert is a sublime, very gay, housekeeper of immaculate, smell free homes. His particular favorite is the home of a perfume designer and her very sexy gay-curious husband, whose shelves are lined with exquisite glass bottles filled with miraculous scents.

The sense of touch is shown by a massage therapist with a troubled daughter. A client, Anna Miller comes in with her daughter Elize to get a massage. Elize is antsy so they send teenage Rachel out to the park with her. Rachel becomes distracted by two people making love in the woods and she loses track of her charge. The search and worry over a missing girl are the unifying threads of the film.

She is caught peeping by Rupert a young, probably gay, voyeur whom she befriends, they have a common interest- peeping. Rupert takes her to spot in the park where gay men have sex and her wellspring is opened. Mary-Louise Parker does an excellent job with her character, who refuses to open up to a hunky Italian lover; taste is the key to her heart.

Of the five male characters in the film, three are gay or bisexual.

This film was first a play and then was filmed. Believe it or not there are still psychologists out there who try to convert gay men to becoming straight. This is the story of Frank Johnson who goes undercover to discover the real story about this practice (he is helped by his lover Jonathan to get this story written. The psychologist Dr. Arthur Apsey is the person he chooses to go to (to get the story).

As the story moves on we are not sure if Frank is faking or really has a feeling to change to straight. Has his lover a finger in this?

A very interesting film although i get annoyed at these Doctors who take advantage of gay men who are unsure of themselves and are listening to other people telling them what they should be. So it is a hard review to write as I do not believe one changes from gay to hetero or vice versa!

Porno turns out to be very gay friendly planet, inhabited by a lesbian guerrilla tribe, a gay Robin Hood (who actually seduces Flesh in the woods), the transvestite emperor and a lot of fetishistic orgies in the palace.

This sex comedy was intended as hard core porn, but the producers trimmed it down to an R-rating to get a bigger audience. If you like campy, bad taste science-fiction with cheesy special effects, look no further. I had a great time watching it, anyway.

He tries his best to pull away from this relationship but finds that Duilio is just too of a need for him. The whole relation ship comes to a head when Duilio´s Step-mother starts questioning the relationship.

I liked this film a lot. It is the story of a ex-hero policeman who is straight and certainly homophobic. in his building lives as pre-op transgender and a flamboyant drag queen. They seem to be set to hate each for a lifetime but then the straight guy called Walt Koontz suffers a stroke and can not use his vocal cords. Low and behold the drag queen becomes his vocal trainer and helps him get the use of his vocal cords back by giving him singing lessons. Slowly Walter discovers that drag queens / gays /trans genders are not as bad as he thought. I really liked the relationship between the straight and the drag queens which develops during the move.. A must see !

 

Note: you will hear the famous line: :

"I'm more man than you'll ever be and more woman than you'll ever get," said by Hoffman, Philip Seymour to Robert De Niro and in Car Wash the same line was said by Antonio Fargas to Bill Duke in another Joel Shumacher film: Car Wash from 1976.

It is the story of a young man who ends up working as a male hustler in order to pay for his wife's (yes she is a Lesbian ) girlfriends abortion and for his heroin habit. He ends up working for a strange group of people - including transvestites and a strange photographer. The situations are often very funny but at the same time realistic. A must for Joe Dallesandro fans.

Leo is taken by her beauty and she brings him home to her room, not telling him that she is married to a Count. Of course, the count comes in and there is a duel. The count is killed and Leo is sent away to Africa (to serve in the Military for punishment) for 5 years. He asks Ulrich to watch over her and is confident that when he returns he will be with her but as he finds out she has married Ulrich. Got the story so far ? Ulrich is rich and she has never told him that she was with his "best" friend". When he finds out he stays away from the both of them but she tries to get him as her lover. The triangle continues till the end where there is a great scene with her dying while Leo and Ulrich reunite in an embrace... See the film and watch the end this is how it should be in Hollywood..

There are romantic scenes in the film and then follows the down spiril of the rocker who takes drugs (the boy gets also involved with drugs). One can think there will be unhappy ending but you have to see this entertaining gay film from Switzerland.

The plans goes wrong when the boy dies. It is a really low life story and Kevin Bacon is great in it.

I think this is the way we will be shown in the future after we get the same rights as straights. We will be in the film shown in many different ways but we will be shown as normal characters with a small difference - we are gay. By the way Hugh Grant is also great in this film. See it !

I really love this film and although it is a brutal look at gay life it is none the less one of the first films I have seen where it doesn't matter if the parts are homosexual or heterosexual people. So that makes it a normal story with men who happen to be gay. It is about Fox who is a poor working class guy (play by R.W. Fassbinder - when he still had some sex appeal) he one day is down on his luck as the job he had at the circus is over. He has this itchy feeling that if he plays the Lotto on this day he will win. After picking up a rich man who will not give him the money to play but is willing to drive him around he cheats a very gay florist out of the money he needs and he get the Lotto ticket and wins. He is hunted down by a so called wealthy gay man who through many tricks gets all of Fox´s lotto money away from him and Fox is left almost what he started out. It is sad to see the rich (don't let appearances fool you) man using Fox and plotting with his (ex) friend to get his money away from him. It is also sad to see Fox trying his best to move in a social class which is far above him. You will want to take Fox in your arms and help him find his way in life. A very very moving film and if you haven't see it please do! If you think it is just another Fassbinder film where life is depressing think again this is a great film!

This film is too much. It has the Baron Frankenstein trying to create a new race of humans out of body parts. He makes the man and for the brain thinks he is getting a womanizing man but in reality he gets the of a man who is about to become a Monk but at the same time is hot after his friend. They go to a brothel and the friend is watching his friend have sex all the time he is there. At the end of the evening he loses his head mistakenly (Frankenstein wanted the other man).. So it is not surprising when the monster shows no interest in having sex with females. If he had made him a male that is another story. The Baron's wife (or is she his sister - every few minutes their relationship changes) who is sex starved can't get an erection out of the monster in fact he kills her during the attempted sex. The ending scene is horrible. In order to get the R Rating the film has to be cut. and I have been told the film has even more blood and guts falling out in the original pre-cut version Excuse me ??? this was fun and gory enough even I have my limits !!fun fun fun see it.!!..

Danny Nucci plays a shy virgin who is looking for Mr. Right. Does he find him? Well if you can tolerate idiotic chatter about the length of Claudia Schiffers nipples and suffer Robert Downey's horrible German accent - you'll find out. Plus you get to see cutie-pie Neill Barry stark bollocks naked, full frontal. In glorious close-up. I kid you not. So then. 2 good reasons to rent this movie, 2 good reasons not to. Take your pick!

Oh by the way two dancers Loper (played by Steve Huison) and the BIGGEST ONE of the group - Guy (played by by Hugo Speer) have a go at it.. and the G-strings are hot...
