About Adam
Director:
Gerard Stembridge
UK/Ireland
: 2000 : 97 mins
With:
Stuart Townsend, Kate Hudson, Charlotte Bradley
Adam is
a
charming, young man who seduces an entire family, 3 sisters and one
brother.
The brother is heterosexual, but fancies Adam anyway. They end up in
bed, and
it gets very funny after a while! This is a morality play about people
wishing
to break free and do whatever they please. Adam is the key to the
story, trying
to fulfil the dreams of everyone he meets. I kinda wish Robbie Williams
had
played Adam. He would have been just right for this part. Still, this
movie
will entertain you.

Adam and Steve
Directed
by
Craig Chester
USA: 2005
With:
Craig
Chester, Malcom Gets, Parker Posey
I got
to
see this comedy twice in a week at the Castro Theatre in SF, (which is
the best
way to see gay films, believe me) Maybe that’s why I love it.
Or maybe it’s
because it’s really funny?
Anyway
?
Adam is a gay man who hooks up with a cutie named Steve. They have met
once
before, (which ended in disaster, but none of them remember it!) Adam
and Steve
decide to play house for a while. They are both kinda prissy and
insecure, have
dysfunctional friends and families, so it could turn bad any minute...
Any
film
that makes me laugh as hard as I did at this has merit. Some of the
situations
are sitcom-ish, though Parker Posey as a comedian who tells fat-jokes
about
herself even though she’s no longer overweight is pure class.
The visit to Adam’s
parents is a scream, could easily have fit into one of the better
Zucker/Abraham-comedies..
Time
flies
by, there is a western-dancing finale and suddenly it’s over.
And you want to
see it again. Then, tell your friends about it!

Aggressives, The
Director: Daniel Peddle
USA: 2005: 73 mins: Lesbian,
Documentary
With: Kisha Batista, Marquise
Balenciaga:
The Agressives is an entertaining
documentary that chronicles five years in the lives of six New York lesbians.
These women identify as “aggressives”, which generally means that their
appearance and demeanour is butch or masculine.
The viewers are lead through the
Aggressives personal and working lives – including footage of one Aggressive
who landed herself in prison. We also meet model Kisha Batista, who manages to
change her look from boyish to more traditionally feminine and back again as
part of her fashion career.
The Aggressives will prove to be an
eye-opener into this subculture of women who risk alienation from their
families and wider communities because their “look” is oft times deemed as too
far removed from what society is prepared to accept from its women.

Another gay
movie
USA: 2006
Director:
Todd Stephens
With:
Michael Carbonaro, Jonathan Chase, Graham Norton, Lypsynka, Scott
Thompson
You
can’t
possibly ask for anything gayer than this teen-comedy spoof! 4 gay
high-school
friends promise each other to lose their virginity before summer is
over.
Popping the “cherry” isn’t as easy as it
sounds, though. They have catastrophic
sex with S&M teachers, Survivor-winner Richard Hatch, gorgeous
“studs” and
a quiche pie..(don’t ask, see for yourself!) And the cherry
stays intact..
Even
describing
the plot of this movie is difficult without using four-letter words,
since this
is
the
dirtiest gay comedy that has come around for....well ever! The plot is
more or
less the same as in “American Pie”, including the
food. There is a LOT of male
nudity, and although it’s
meant to be funny, it sometimes distracts us from the plot. Too many
cute guys
strutting their stuff tend to distract me, you know!!
Some
nice
scenes feature gay icon Lypsynka as a Joan Crawford-ish mother figure,
a
totally nude Richard Hatch signing books, and Graham Norton as
exchange-teacher
mr Puckov sporting the largest...eh....how do I say this...
OK, I
won’t...
Worth a
look for those who can stomach lots of talk about sex and tons of
nudity.
Anyone??

This is

the Navy
was out to hush-hush the true motive of the crime to save their own
reputation
and didn't want the case to even reach court! Fortunately, this kind of
hideous
justice looks to be a thing of the past in the U.S.A. And good

Arisan
Director:
Nia Dinata
Indonesia: 2003
With:
Cut
Mini, Tora Sudiro, Aida Nurmala, Rachel Maryam, Surya Saputra :
ARISAN
is
an Indonesian film about groups of friends who get together and
socialize. Each
one tries to out do the other for preparing their get together. The
friends go
through many relationships and each one has their story to tell. There
is a
closeted gay guy who will not say he is gay and wants to stay in the
closet for
many reasons such as protecting his family. In reality Sakti (the
closeted gay
man) and Nino (who is his lover) are the only sane ones in the film but
are
none the less the ones who have to hide their relationship. This film
is a must
see as homosexuality is repressed in this land but of course life for
gays goes
on. I enjoyed the film and learned a lot..

As Good As It
Gets
Director:
James L. Brooks.
USA: 1997:
With:
Jack
Nicholson, Helen Hunt and Greg Kinnear as Melvin:
I was a
little shocked at the anti gay language in this film but I soon got
over it as
Greg Kinnear in he role as Melvin was sooooooo good. It contained a lot
of the
use of the anti gay word but with Jack Nicholson as the neighbour who
starts
out with hate for his gay neighbour soon meets a waitress who he falls
for (in
his special way) and he soon learns to live and let live with his
neighbour and
in fact after all Melvin friends and family desert him he is there for
him when
he need him the most. So at least on bigot is changed in the world !
Note:
This
is a good film and you will either love it or hate it – I
loved it…

Audrey Hepburn
Story, The
USA: 2000: ABC TV
Movie (first showing:
27.March.2000): Gay Character
With:
Michael Burg as Truman Capote and Jennifer Love Hewitt as Audrey
Hepburn:
Michael
Burg as Truman Capote is a small role but a very important on to this
TV Film.
Breakfast at Tiffany's played a key role in Audrey´s life and
was written by
Truman. Audrey was taken with the author and his works. This ABC film
tells her
life story in flashbacks and after each of these it returns to her
filming of
Breakfast at Tiffany. Truman is played as a nasty queen who's work on
the film
involves bitching everyone out. In one scene Audrey must eat a pastry
and when
she keeps missing her lines Truman says:
"This
is why I didn't want Hepburn -- she can't eat,"
and
moans
to the director
"Marilyn
Monroe is who I wanted; Marilyn Monroe knows how to eat."
Note:
Michael Burg is really good as Truman Capote (one can hope that he will
get to
play Truman in a longer role than just a few minutes) and Jennifer Love
Hewitt
is certainly a double for Audrey Hepburn I do not know when this will
air in
Europe but keep your eyes open and enjoy the TV film when you see it.
